AutoCAD uses 'projectnames' to better manage drawings by allowing drawings to be grouped by a 'projectname' which has an associated search path in which to find XREF drawings. Projectname manager helps organize projectnames and their search paths for an entire office. The .pnm files used to store this information can be easily distributed. Projectnames and their paths can be imported to/from any AutoCAD user profile or file.

For large offices that use a custom AutoCAD menu, distributing updates to the menu files can be very tedious. Menu Update is a system tray program that checks for changes to the master menu files and updates the local copies accordingly. By default, Menu Update launches at startup. If the master files are newer, the user is prompted to update the files. The user can also invoke a check by simply double-clicking the tray icon.
