AutoCAD uses 'projectnames' to better manage drawings by allowing drawings to be grouped by a 'projectname' which has an associated search path in which to find XREF drawings. Projectname manager helps organize projectnames and their search paths for an entire office. The .pnm files used to store this information can be easily distributed.
