CPU Speedometer 1.05 Description
The name CPUspeed stands for CPU Speedometer. CPUspeed finds out at what speed your CPU's really running internally. If you are overclocking your PC, CPUspeed allows you to check what's really going on.
CPUspeed shows an average and an instant CPU value. The average is likely to settle down pretty quickly, while the instant value will always fluctuate a little, that's normal. For those of you who own a laptop with CPU power saving features turned on, the instant value may go down when the machine is idle.
To do the CPU speed calculations, I use the time stamp counter (a counter inside the CPU which runs at the internal CPU speed) divided by a timer reference. That should be quite accurate on most PCs - but no guaranty.
